SF City 2, El Farolito 0: City wins the battle of San Francisco to move on in Open Cup play

SF City FC (NorCal Premier) defeated San Francisco rivals El Farolito (SFSFL) 2-0 at Kezar Stadium in the first qualifying round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Sunday. Danny Kirkland scored in the 45th minute from a penalty kick right on the stroke of halftime. In the 78th minute, Johannes DeMarzi headed home a cross from Ben Flatley to put the game away and send SF City FC into the 2nd round. El Farolito defender Eric Cortes was sent off in the 85th minute after a challenge on SF City FC’s Ben Flatley outside the area. 1,015 fans took in the tea-time fixture from Kezar Stadium.
