SF City 6, SF Stompers 2: City continues dominance leading into Open Cup

SUNDAY, October 18: City traveled to Hayward to face SF Stompers in a ¬†final NorCal premier match before this Sunday’s U.S. Open Cup match vs. El Farolito. After falling behind early after the Stompers intercepted a misplayed back pass, City quickly equalized on a goal from right back Bobby Edwards. City then took the lead on two beautiful finishes from Johannes Demarzi to take a 3-1 lead into the half.

The Stompers came out with renewed energy in the 2nd half, scoring in the 50th minute and cutting City’s lead to one. It didn’t take long for City to expand the lead, however, with defender Marc Tonkel finding David Taylor streaking up the field for City’s fourth goal. Nick Littleton added and Ben Flatley added the 5th and 6th goals to put the game out of reach.

With the win, City takes a 3-0 record in NorCal Premier play.

Next up, City takes on El Farolito in a historic U.S. Open Cup San Francisco derby match this Sunday, October 25 at 3:00 p.m. Additional information including ticketing and match details located here.
