SF City returned to Kezar Stadium last Saturday looking to continue towards a 100% winning record in NorCal Premier League play.
After a fast start, SF City took a 1-0 lead 30 minutes into the first half thanks to a George Plakorus half-volley. Plakorus found himself unmarked inside the penalty box after receiving a cross from teammate and SF City FC debutant Steven Conway. Plakorus calmly took the cross down on his chest and hammered home a volley past the Ballistic goalkeeper.
Despite continued pressure leading to additional SF City chances on goal, the score remained 1-0 at half time.
The 2nd half saw SF City concede an equalizing goal early in the half, with a Ballistic player shooting past goalkeeper Austin Harms in the 53rd minute.
Just four minutes later, SF City found themselves trailing for the first time in the 2015 NorCal Premier League Campaign as Ballistic midfielder Stefan Clemens capitalized on a an SF City defensive mistake to slot home past GK Harms.
The second Ballistic goal served as a wake up call for SF City, who resumed intense pressure on the Ballistic midfield and back line. After a quickly taken short corner, SF City tied the score in the 59th minute when Marc Tonkel sent in a 22-yard blast into the back of the net.
In the game’s waning moments, Midfielder Eric Anderson beat multiple Ballistic defenders down the right sideline, ended his run at the byline and played a perfect cross towards the Ballistic goal. Anderson’s cross found the waiting head of Plakorus, who headed home to give SF City the 3-2 lead.
Plakorus and his SF City teammates raced to Northside supporters section to celebrate the comeback and one of the highlight goals of the SF City season.
Just seconds later, the referee blew his whistle for full time with SF City holding on to remain undefeated in NorCal Premier League play.
Next up, SF City heads on the road to face 2nd placed Davis Legacy in a homecoming match for General Manger Jordan Gardner and Head Coach Andrew Gardner, this Saturday May 16 at 6:00 p.m.
