SF City FC to play National Champions Stanford & PDL Tryouts Full!

SF City FC is excited to announce a pre-season friendly match vs. 2015 NCAA Division I Champions Stanford on Saturday April 9th. The game will be played in Palo Alto at Steuber Rugby Stadium with a 7:00pm kickoff. The match is free and open to the public.

Stanford waltzed to the NCAA title with a 4-0 drubbing of Clemson in the championship game, tying the largest margin of victory since 1975. This was their first title in program history. In May 2015, the two teams met at the Stanford soccer training facility, Stanford running out victors 3-0 with all goals coming in the 2nd half. It will be a homecoming for SF City Midfielder Bobby Edwards, who played at Stanford from 2010-2014, notching 2 goals and 5 assists in his senior season.

Registration for the PDL open tryouts on Sunday March 20 at Crocker Amazon has now closed and is full. Please note that late registrations will not be taken on site. The PDL has proven to be an important stepping-stone for top professionals now playing throughout the world, with 70 percent of all MLS draftees having PDL experience. The PDL provides elite collegiate players the opportunity to taste a higher level of competition while maintaining their eligibility. In addition to league play, PDL teams compete in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as well as various exhibitions.

SF City FC will make its PDL debut in 2016. In 2015 SF City was established as a member owned Club, qualifying for both the 2015 and 2016 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. With a passionate fan base and hundreds of active members, SF City proudly represents San Francisco as the highest level men’s team playing within the City.
